What Motivates You To Do Business?

During my business life I have had many opportunities to spend quite a significant amount of time in other business leaders companies. And whilst there, I have had the good fortune to have several very interesting one to one conversations.

On one particular occasion I was in the boardroom of one of the brand leaders in the drinks and beverages industry.

And I asked a leading executive of that famous beverages company this question. “Why do you make strange coloured liquid, put it into funny shaped bottles and distribute it all over the world, when you could put the same amount of money into a bank and get a better return?”

He admitted that my question made him think a lot and reflect on the purpose of his company and why they were in business.

So, now I am asking you, as the business leader of your company, to do the same.

What is the purpose of your company’s business endeavours?

Why are you in business, what motivates you to continue to do what you do everyday?

Be honest with yourself, really think about these questions and reflect on your answers.

Because if you seriously take some time to review the real meaning of your answers, it could make a huge difference in your decisions and business direction for the future.

Take into account these questions as well as they will help you to make a realistic reflection on your overall business intentions.

What is it that you are trying to achieve with your business?

Are you concentrating on what matters most?

Take a closer look at your business, are you missing opportunities to be more successful?

It is all about your decisions, especially the ones that you make within your company, as a business leader, which will ultimately affect the real success of your business.

So, just stop for a moment, think about it and reflect on exactly that question, why are you in business?
